UNFOLDING LOTUS MEDITATION

(Find a quiet place and sit in a comfortable position. Slowly inhale and exhale three times. Read the meditation below and close your eyes. Allow your mind and body to experience unfoldment as you relax.)

The lotus is a model of gradual unfoldment.
here is a uniqueness and simplicity,
belonging to nothing except the lotus itself.

Holding the natural unfolding of all the petals
in the mind's eye can sharpen awareness of non-doing.
Move from doing to being.
The forces of nature come together to make it happen.

Imagine the fragrance exuding from the flower.
experience the soft, velvety texture of the individual petals
as if you were touching them.

Your stillness joins the lotus' silence

 leading to our oneness.

Listen to rain drops falling on and around the bush,
and see the sun in its course of evaporating the mist and wetness.

The lotus calmly abides all changes around it
as well as, whatever befalls it.
It weathers all for its destiny is to unfold,
to open to whatever is there,
a model for my own opening.
